Immodan's diary: a long journey to Ivalo

Immodan offers furnished apartments for businesses and project accommodation for employees.

Our latest project took us on a long journey from Helsinki to Ivalo to furnish the homes of Border Guard employees. Here is our story of this unforgettable trip.

The start of the journey

It all started in Helsinki, where we prepared our van and loaded it full of furniture. Our journey began on Monday morning, just after midnight. Two members of our team started the long drive towards Lapland. Despite the long and demanding journey, spirits remained high.

The long way north

Our first stop was Rovaniemi, where we upgraded our equipment and got internet connections to our furnished apartments. We had two locations: one in Sodankylä and one in Ivalo. In Sodankylä we met a client with whom we exchanged news and continued our journey to Ivalo.

Furnishing

In Ivalo, the furnishing went according to plan. It took less than an hour to furnish each apartment, as we had prepared everything carefully beforehand. We made the beds and left snacks for the new tenants to make it easier for them to settle in.

Customer delight

Our customers were very happy with the end result, which made the long working days rewarding. Even though we were tired after a long drive, it was great to see the results and the joy of our customers. In addition, the Arctic night, where it was almost as bright at midnight as it was during the day, was an incredible experience - a real life experience.

Back towards Helsinki

After furnishing, we headed back to Rovaniemi, where we took some things to our storage and stayed in an Airbnb apartment. The next day we left the van in Rovaniemi and flew back to Helsinki. This made it much easier after the long drive and gave us a chance to relax.

First contact with Lapland

The trip was special for us, as neither of our team members had been to Lapland before. Seeing the reindeer up close was a fun experience and made a big impression on us. We will be doing more projects in the north in the future, as our next gig will be in Salla.
